My Career Journey: From Inspector to Entrepreneur
My career in the fruit and vegetable sector began 13 years ago as a quality inspector at a packaging station. Here, I was responsible for inspecting products like tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. What started as a job quickly grew into a passion for quality management and process optimization.
I realized how crucial it is to deliver products that meet the highest standards of freshness and safety.
At the Quality Control Bureau (KCB) and the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), where I worked on phytosanitary inspections on behalf of the government, I expanded my expertise. These inspections are critical to ensuring harmful organisms do not enter the European market. During this time, I became well-versed in inspecting a variety of product categories, from glasshouse vegetables and fruits to exotic products. Through my extensive knowledge of phytosanitary regulations and international standards, I am now able to advise and guide companies to meet the strict import and export requirements.
In my role at Vitaal Europe as a quality manager, I had the opportunity to put my expertise into practice. I was responsible for the quality and food safety of both imported and exported products. My focus was on implementing standards such as Global GAP, HACCP, and BRC, as well as improving processes to ensure product quality. I led periodic inspections and prepared reports to meet international quality control requirements.
